The more questions you ask,

by admin on Jul.31, 2010, under Uncategorized

The more questions you ask, the better you are at arriving at the
solution. You look at the problem from all angles.

Give it a try! Ask questions, and more questions …

Remember, you have 5 senses to help you. Human beings are blessed with the sense of smell, sight, touch, hearing, and taste to help them make deductions and survive in the world.

In this case the sense of smell puts you on the alert – there’s a burning smell. But where is it? Use your eyes to look. Unless you have myopia, very often, you should be able to see the source of the burning smell.

But sometimes the burning smell has already been carried over a wide area and there is no smoke to help you pinpoint the exact location of the fault …

Well, use your sense of touch to feel.

Statins not only slow

by admin on Jul.31, 2010, under Uncategorized

Statins not only slow the growth of plaques, but they also can shrink existing plaques and actually make them less likely to break apart, causing stroke or heart attack. Risk factors for artherosclerosis are:

High cholesterol levels;

Diabetes;

A family history of early-age heart attack or heart disease;

Advancing age.

There are several statins that are commonly perscribed. These medications have many differences, including their cholesterol-blocking ability, their side-effects, how they interact with other drugs, and their ability to reduce heart attack and stroke. Some common statins which are frequently perscribed include:

Atorvastatin (Lipitor);
Rosuvastatin (Crestor);
Fluvastatin (Lescol);
Simvastatin (Zocor);
Lovastatin (Mevacor);
Pravastatin (Pravachol).

Most side-effects of the statins are mild, like nausea and vomiting, but one major side-effect that is very rare, is rhabdomyolysis, which can cause muscle damage and eventually kidney failure.

Leaning building in UAE certified as world record breaker

ABU DHABI, June 6 (Xinhua) — Capital Gate, an office and hotel complex in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) set for completion by the end of 2010, has been certified as the World’s Furthest Leaning Man- made Tower by Guinness World Records, a local business journal reported Sunday.

The building, owned and developed in the UAE capital by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), has been built to lean 18 degrees westwards — more than four times that of the world famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, Arabian Business said in a report on its website.

It has earned the Guinness recognition after rigorous evaluation by the Awards committee since January this year, when the exterior of the 160-meter and 35-storey tower was completed, the report said.

“Capital Gate is a landmark development for Abu Dhabi and with this recognition the tower takes its place among the world’s great buildings. It is a signature building which speaks to the fore- sight of the emirate,” ADNEC Chairman Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan was quoted as saying

Student of Std VII scores a perfect 800 in SAT

0 Comments | DNA : Daily News & Analysis; Mumbai, Jun 01, 2010 | by Rao, Yogita

At 13, most boys would be worrying about their first pimple, the inexplicable crush on the prettiest girl in the neighbourhood or the latest bike. But not Vinay Raman Ramesh. The lad’s single-minded focus was acing the scholastic assessment test (SAT), that is usually taken for admission to colleges in the United States. Which probably explains his perfect score of 800/800 the SAT.

This Std VII student of the American School of Bombay at Bandra-Kurla Complex, scored much higher that the qualifying scores for admissions, which is a minuscule 450 in comparison.

It all started as a summer activity with an online programme that he attempted for the Johns Hopkins University in US. “His teachers in school suggested that he take up the online courses that the university offered. He is a brilliant student and is allowed to attend the math classes of Std IX and X. He has been appearing for these online courses since Std V,” said his mother Lata Ramesh.

Though getting the perfect score is not a difficult task, it is very rare for a 12-year-old (he was 12 when he appeared for the exam). Vinay’s mother admits that a few years ago, a 12-year-old had qualified with a score of 800, but not in India. “Since the past couple of years he has been appearing for these online courses during every vacation

How will visitors interact on your

by admin on Jul.31, 2010, under Uncategorized

How will visitors interact on your website? Your first response might be that they don’t really need to interact with you, this is not true. It is very important for web users to feel they are making a “connection” with a website rather than just viewing a static display.

The role that your visitors will play depends upon the message and/or product that you are presenting to them. Your visitors may consist of silent guests who are browsing the contents of your website but have no desire to interact with you. Or, they may be active participants who would like to collaborate with you and welcome any opportunity to do so.

For the silent guests you will want to provide quality content. They are there for a reason, usually they are seeking information about the subject matter that you are presenting on your website. If you are selling something these people are prospective customers. If you are disseminating information or data then they are probably weighing your credibility and will judge your site based on the content.

You Are Three Fundamental Principles Away from Working Your Fire Magic

by admin on Jul.29, 2010, under Uncategorized

You Are Three Fundamental Principles Away from Working Your Fire Magic by Carolyn Ash
in Food / Cooking Tips (submitted 2010-07-14)

The way you entertain will be forever changed when you truly understand the physics of cooking. With just a little fundamental knowledge about how Fire Magic or Cal Flame grills actually work, in no time you will be a real master.

Three essential terms to learn are: conduction, convection, and radiant heat.

Conduction is the simplest form of heat transfer. Heat is conducted at different rates through different substances, and whatever that conducting substance is will affect the rate of heat transfer. If something hot even comes near something cool, the two objects will begin to exchange temperatures through the conduction occurring through the air particles. Water, oil, stone and metal transfer heat more rapidly, which makes them essential to all types of cooking.

For example, a steak with good fat marbling placed on a very hot Fire Magic or Cal Flame grill will sear up beautifully because the metal of the grill and the fat in the meat conduct heat rapidly enough to keep the meat from becoming chewy.

Convection occurs when the conductive power of air is amplified by the movement of the air. The air in a Cal Flame grill or pizza oven, for instance, will naturally flow cyclically – just as it does in the atmosphere. The coldest part of an oven or covered grill is nearest the door, so, as the air is heated, it passes up the rear portion of the oven or covered grill and then is forced forward and down the front again as more heated air competes for space.

The effect is a sort of hot circular wind that increases conduction and cooks the outside of food items faster. That is one of the reasons why artisan bread has such a crispy crust.

To increase convection even further, some Fire Magic and Cal Flame grills and ovens are designed to streamline the airflow, and have flues for air to enter and escape

The warmth will open up

by admin on Jul.29, 2010, under Uncategorized

The warmth will open up the nasal passages and allow for easier breathing through the nose.

In addition, ridding your home of allergens, such as dust, pet hair and cigarette smoke will also help allergy sufferers to get a better snore-free night?s sleep.

The use of air filtration systems help to remove dust and other allergens from their air and should be placed in every room throughout the house, including the bedroom.

If the sufferer has been diagnosed as being overweight or obese, this may also be a cause for snoring. A medically supervised diet and exercise program may be the answer to losing weight and the nighttime nuisance of snoring.

I don’t know

by admin on Jul.29, 2010, under Uncategorized

I don’t know what’s wrong nor if what I have has an official name. Maybe they call it, “Ah-ha-now-you-can’t-breathe-well-and-feel-like-you-are-going-to-die virus. I don’t know. I will probably go to the doctor tomorrow if I am not feeling better.

Going to the doctor in Mexico is simply a delight. There are several reasons for my enchantment with going to Mexican doctors. One is that I can afford it. The best part, in fact, about going to the Mexican doctor is at the end of the visit when you have to pay less than $15.00 for an office call.

This is what you will hear your American doctor telling you,

“That will be all for today. Now be sure to pay your $150.00 DOLLAR office visit fee so you can help make the payment on my brand-new SUV. Be sure to take a look at it on your way back to your little rust bucket of a car.

FELONY DUI SENTENCE IMPOSED — 7 YEARS LATE

0 Comments | Idaho State Journal; Pocatello, Idaho, Jun 22, 2010

POCATELLO –A man who absconded in 2003 before he could be sentenced for felony driving under the influence finally had the sentence imposed Monday and will spend time in the local jail until he can be deported to Mexico.

Joel Rodriguez, 38, was represented by his original counsel, Kevin Peterson, who tried to put as much positive spin on his client’s disappearance as was possible.

“The bright side of this is he hasn’t been in trouble for seven years,” he told Sixth District Judge Stephen S. Dunn.

“Trouble in Idaho,” Dunn replied.

Rodriguez’ running apparently included a stint back in his native Mexico, and another illegal re-entry back into the states. In his presentence report, Rodriguez expressed a hope to serve his penalty for the felony DUI and to come back legally into the country after his deportation.

“The chances of you coming back legally are very slim,” said Dunn. “If you come back illegally, I can tell you you’re going to prison.”

Dunn sentenced Rodriguez to a three-year fixed, four-year indeterminate sentence which he suspended , placing Rodriguez on probation for seven years
